Bhigwan, a birding paradise close to Pune, is one of the best winter destinations in the area. Apart from a large variety of wetland birds found here, especially migratory Greater Flamingos, Bhigwan is also a great case study in community-led tourism, and a perfect place to see first-hand how locals are transforming the birding scene in a positive way.
Program Details
We will travel to Bhigwan early in the morning in order to see wetland birds with the help of a boat ride. Later, after our birding session, we will have the opportunity to interact with a local community tourism stakeholder, and learn more about how local communities and the environment can benefit from each other with the help of sustainable tourism.
