Trip Report
I am Mahesh Rajpoot from Asian Adventures, your birding guide!
I recently embarked on a birding adventure to Bharatpur, with our client, Sarinda.
Let me take you on a virtual tour of this avian paradise, where our days were filled with awe-inspiring sightings of rare and magnificent feathered creatures.
Our journey began with the enchanting calls of the majestic Sarus Cranes resonating across the wetlands. These graceful giants greeted us as we entered the Keoladeo National Park, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. Bharatpur truly lived up to its reputation as a haven for bird enthusiasts!
As we explored the park's diverse habitats, we were treated to seeing an Imperial Eagle soaring high above us, while a Dusky Eagle Owl peered down from its secretive perch. The striking Black-necked stork waded through shallow waters, its long beak poised for a tasty meal. Spotted owlets greeted us with their watchful eyes, hidden amidst the dense foliage.
Amidst the reeds, we encountered the melodious songs of a Clamorous Reed Warbler, its vibrant notes filling the air. The tranquil lakes were adorned with the regal presence of Great White Pelicans, while Yellow-footed Green Pigeons added a splash of color to the surroundings. Great Crested Grebes gracefully swam alongside us, while White-tailed Lapwings showcased their distinctive call.
Our birding adventure continued with captivating sightings of Western Marsh Harriers, Indian Darters, and Pied Kingfishers displaying their exceptional hunting skills. We went to the roosting site of the Greater Spotted Eagle and Bronze-winged jacanas, allowing us to witness their fascinating behaviors up close.
Throughout the journey, we encountered an incredible variety of waterfowl, including Indian Spot-billed Ducks, Bar-headed, and Greylag Geese. The presence of Dalmatian Pelicans, Ruddy Shelducks, and a Bay-backed Shrike added to the excitement.
As we ventured further, we spotted rare beauties such as the Red-breasted Flycatcher, Indian Spotted Eagle, Booted Eagle, and Indian Golden Oriole. The dense vegetation came alive with the calls of a Yellow-eyed Babbler, Common Chiffchaff, Hume's Warbler, a Greenish Warbler, and Blyth's Reed Warbler. The vibrant Red Avadavat and the Lesser Whitethroat delighted us with their vibrant plumage.
Our last days in Bharatpur we brought us delightful encounters with Knob-billed Ducks, Red-crested Pochards, Eurasian Wigeons, Northern Shovelers, Gadwalls, Cotton Pygmy-geese, and Garganeys.
This birding trip to Bharatpur was an absolute delight. The bountiful diversity of avian species and our company's collective expertise made it an unforgettable experience for Sarinda. So, if you're passionate about birds, make sure to add Bharatpur to your bucket list! Happy birding, folks!
